Core Values
-
We believe that biblical preaching of God’s Word is central to our mission. Exposition preaching is letting the text of Scripture drive the sermon, bringing God’s intended meaning to the congregation. The pastors/elders of the church will root themselves in God’s intended meaning of the text, center it in the Gospel, and apply it to the lives of those gathered so that they are encouraged and equipped to fulfill God’s purpose for them.
-
We believe that meaningful membership is essential to a healthy church body. Members are those that have truly repented of their sins and have put their faith and trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, have been baptized as believers by immersion, and have covenanted with this body of believers to live out the biblical commands of Scripture in word and deed.
-
We believe that the biblical model of church polity (the way we structure ourselves as a church and govern ourselves) is through elder-led congregationalism. This means that Jesus is the head of the church and has chosen qualified and gifted men to lead his church called elders/overseers/pastors. These men do not rule the church, but lead the church. They oversee the ministry and flock, shepherding them and loving them, leading them to Jesus.
-
We believe that our gathered corporate worship services are to be submitted to biblical principles and commands. We believe that the essential elements of the worship service are the reading and preaching of God’s word, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs that center on biblical truths, partaking of the Lord’s Supper, corporate prayer, and giving of our time, talents, and monetary provision that God has provided for us.
-
We believe that discipleship is essential to a healthy church. Discipleship begins with evangelism, proclaiming the Gospel to the lost, that they may become followers of Jesus. Once a person becomes a believer, they are called to a life of following Jesus. We strive to equip disciples through corporate worship gatherings and small group discipleship so that members will know their Bibles, understand what they believe, and live the Christian life through spiritual disciplines.
-
We believe that as we make disciples, we are also thoroughly involved in supporting missions and being on mission ourselves. We endeavor to partner with missions agencies, particularly through the Southern Baptist Convention and its entities such as the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. We also are partnering with Pillar Network, a network of churches that are like-minded in belief and are focused on planting, revitalizing, and strengthening other churches.
